ISAIAH 35
Behold the coming Kingdom

Vs  1.  The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and
blossom as the rose.
Vs  2.          It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be
given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency
of our God.
Vs  3.  Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
Vs  6.  Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall
waters break out, and the streams in the desert.
Vs  8.  And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness; the unclean shall
not pass over it; but it shall be for those:  the wayfaring men, though fools shall not err therein.
Vs  9.  No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but
the redeemed shall walk there.
Vs 10.  And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon
their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17
Vs 16.  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with
the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Vs 17.  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet
the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Isaiah 35
Vs  1.                   “The wilderness and the wastelands shall be glad for them”
Yes this does imply the wilderness areas of Israel!!  The land of Judah was freed from the Assyrian
army, they had made the land a wilderness and now it is to blossom like a rose.
What about the wilderness and wasteland of hearts that have been destroyed by the devil’s lies?
Can they not now Jesus, and blossom like a rose!?
“The desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose”!
Yes there shall be life in the barren and desert places of Israel!
And the heart that finds Jesus shall also become as a rose, as a sweet smelling savor before the
Lord.  A new life in the kingdom, a new brother or sister for us to rejoice, praise and worship God with,
here on earth and soon in Heaven.

Vs  2.                  “It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, even with joy and singing.”
What was barren and controlled by a sinful people with sinful attitudes, now it is set free to rejoice ---
rejoice even with singing!
And a sinner set free from the snare of the devil are they not even free to rejoice even in
singing!!?!?!!
“The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it.  The excellence of Carmel and Sharon – They shall see
the glory of the Lord, the excellency of our God.”
    Lebanon – The cedars
    Carmel – Its beauty
    Sharon – Its fertility
The Christian – Strong in the Lord like a cedar
Beautiful with God’s beauty
Fertile and fruitful in the gifts and callings of God in their lives.

Vs  3.                “Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble knees.”
Give peace back to those Jew’s who suffered under the Assyrian army, give strength to them to
stand their ground in the future.
    With a young Christian we should train them in Hand-to-hand combat;
With a young Christian we should train them in the power of the bent knee in prayer.
With a maturing Christian we are to strengthen ourselves through prayer, praise, worship, study of
God’s word and have an intimate relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

I would like you to read through the following verses, Isaiah 35: 4-7, and I will pick up a special note on
verse 6.

Vs  6.                Grace == remember the joy of your salvation!!  Remember how you thought and believed
everyone should be saved!!  Do we still have that joy?  Do we still get all excited about Jesus !!?!?!?!?
Come on everybody, go tell everyone that Jesus Christ is Lord!!

Vs  8.                   “A Highway of Holiness”
The way of the Holy one
    The Holy way!!
The highway that leads the redeemed to Jerusalem
It shall be for those that the Lord has set aside for Him,
The way of Holiness is the way of God’s commandments
The redeemed shall walk there out of the reach of molestation from an evil world.
On that Highway of Holiness, we shall not walk alone, but God Himself shall walk with us, and be with
us.  God will never leave us nor forsake us.
(Let me insert a thought here, a thought only of mine – “what if the back pew or the last row of chairs was
the line between sin and righteousness – don’t we see or know people who would want to be on that pew
or row of chairs – they try to live as close to the world as possible and yet [hopefully not be swallowed up
by the world])”.  But this Highway of Holiness – is close to the front of the church – maybe even the alter
rail – why would anyone who has tasted of the Lord and found Him good want to live away from the Highway
of Holiness, and not be in constant communication with God!!

Vs  9.                Only the redeemed shall be found there.
Every danger shall be warded off the people on this Highway of Holiness.
It shall be a safe way
Those that walk in the way of holiness may proceed with peace of mind, knowing that nothing can do
them any real hurt or harm.

Vs 10.        “And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy
on their heads.  The shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”

1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18 (read these verses and I will comment on verses 16 and 17.

Vs 16.                For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel,
and with the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Vs 17.                Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to
meet the Lord in the air.  And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

To the Christian the catching away, or rapture is the same as Isaiah 35.
The Lord, will deliver,
The Lord, will save
The Lord, will supply our needs
The Lord, will protect us
The Lord, will provide a way for us
The Lord, will always be with us
The Lord, will never fail us
The Lord, will never leave us
The Lord, will never forsake us
The Lord, will always be LORD
Praise the Name of the Lord,
Worship the Lord God Jehovah
